This entire page is all about exploring new tech and building, learning and growing along the way. So it felt appropriate to build a digital clone of myself and to have him introduce the purpose of this website to you. So here you go ;)
Strategic Pause
When I quit my job, I envisioned more time with my daughter, regular gym sessions, plenty of rest, and a deep dive into AI to gain a competitive edge for my future. While reality looks a bit different (life keeps you surprisingly busy even without a 9-to-5), this intentional break is exactly what I needed to refresh my skills, broaden my horizons, and reconnect with what matters most.
This blog serves as my thinking tool - more for myself than anyone else. Writing about topics helps me process thoughts and deepen my learning. Welcome to my self-learning vessel - a platform for my thoughts during this journey, a tool for studying subjects I want to explore, and a playground to experiment with new technologies while documenting both the frustrations and breakthroughs along the way.
What Brought Me Here
After 12 years at Switzerland's second-largest telco provider and becoming a father four years ago, I made the deliberate choice to leave the company at the end of 2024 to explore new possibilities. This wasn't a hasty decision - it was a strategic move to create space for growth, learning, and quality time with my family.
My previous role offered incredible opportunities and responsibility, but it was also intensely demanding. As the number 2 in the market with only a fraction of the budget of our competitors, I handled responsibilities that 15-20 people manage at other companies. I even stepped in for my boss during a burnout-related leave while still maintaining my regular workload. But this blog isn't about looking back - it's about the future and developing new skills.
My Focus Areas
During this purposeful break (while still prioritizing family time and life's practical demands), I'll be exploring several key areas:
Brand & Sales: The marketing world has recently rediscovered the value of brand building, something I've applied throughout my career. Having worked with the 60/40 principle from Les Binet & Field's studies long before it became trendy, I'll be sharing deeper insights on balancing brand marketing with sales activation.
AI & New Technology: We're witnessing a technological revolution that will reshape society in countless ways. Rather than just using tools like ChatGPT without understanding them, I'm taking the challenging route: building fundamental knowledge of how AI actually works before exploring the more advanced applications. Expect experiments with RAG chatbots and other emerging tech, but always grounded in solid understanding.
Sports: From my roots in ice hockey with EVZ to my enthusiasm for American football (following both the Patriots and Buccaneers - yes, there's a Tom Brady connection), I'll share thoughts on sports when time allows.
Mind Dump: This category is my space for everyday reflections and random thoughts - including this introductory post!
A Note on AI
Will AI assist me with writing? Absolutely, when appropriate or when it enhances my learning. But I'll also create plenty of content myself. Happy guessing which is which!
